Our mission

To improve access to healthcare, relieve suffering and support greater independence for people experiencing disadvantage in the Horn of Africa through medical equipment, mobility aids and practical humanitarian assistance.

We pursue this mission through volunteer service, responsible resource use, strong partnerships and health diplomacy.

Our vision

A Horn of Africa where people can access essential healthcare and mobility support with dignity, regardless of their location, financial circumstances, disability or background — and where cooperation in healthcare builds lasting relationships between communities.

Health diplomacy — building trust through healthcare

Humanitarian assistance is not only about the equipment delivered, but also about the relationships built along the way.

Healthcare can bring people together across geographic, cultural and community boundaries. For the Foundation, health diplomacy means building trust and strengthening relationships through practical cooperation in healthcare — connecting donors, healthcare professionals, volunteers and recipient institutions around a shared purpose: relieving suffering and improving access to care.

This community-based approach encourages respectful dialogue and collaboration, including among communities affected by conflict.

Our Shipments So Far

Since sending our first humanitarian container to the Horn of Africa, the Foundation — working closely with the Rotary Club of Footscray and Donations in Kind (DIK) — has coordinated 21 containers of essential medical equipment and mobility aids to hospitals across the region, including 12 containers to Ethiopia (7 to the Somali Regional State, 2 to the Harar Regional State, 1 to the Tigray Regional State, 1 to Dire Dawa City Administration and 1 to Dubti Referral Hospital in the Afar Regional State), 4 containers to Somaliland, 2 to Somalia, and one each to Djibouti, Kenya and Sudan.

These shipments have carried hospital beds, dialysis machines, surgical instruments, wheelchairs and other mobility aids donated by Australian hospitals and healthcare partners — extending the life of quality equipment while making a profound difference in the communities that receive it.

Governance

The Foundation was officially registered as a company under the Corporations Act 2001 on 20 November 2025, with the support of Delphi Accounting. It operates under a board of directors and is committed to transparency, accountability, good governance and responsible stewardship of donated resources — ensuring every item is assessed, responsibly managed, and delivered to verified healthcare facilities according to identified need.

Public Benefit

The Foundation’s work provides direct public benefit by assisting disadvantaged families, children, people with disabilities, and patients who face significant barriers to accessing appropriate healthcare. Its activities are exclusively charitable, conducted in partnership with local stakeholders and international partners to ensure programs are culturally appropriate, needs-driven, and aligned with broader humanitarian and development objectives.
