We are pleased to share that on Thursday, 4 June 2026, we received a grant from the Footscray Rotary Aged and Community Service Fund and the Australian Light Foundation to support the purchase of a Fuso Truck 515 City Cab. This vehicle will significantly enhance our capacity to collect medical equipment from hospitals across Victoria, ready for shipment overseas.
The Foundation works in close partnership with several respected Australian charitable organisations, including the Rotary Club of Footscray Inc, the Footscray Rotary Aged and Community Service Fund, the Rotary Foundation District 9800, Donations in Kind, Western Health, Austin Health and the Australian Light Foundation. Through these partnerships, we ensure that all donated items meet appropriate standards, are fit for purpose, and are distributed to verified healthcare facilities across the Horn of Africa based on assessed need.
In the short term, this new vehicle helps us respond faster to urgent equipment shortages. In the longer term, it strengthens the pipeline of quality donated equipment that keeps our container program running — supporting clinical capacity and more resilient health systems across the region.
